Another one of television’s longest running shows, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, features Shivangi Joshi as Naira and Mohsin Khan as Kartik in lead roles. In the last nine years, the show has stayed put in the list of the most watched TV shows and judging by its popularity, we don’t think the show is going off-air anytime soon.

Starring Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya as Dr. Ishita and Karan Patel as Raman, Ye Hai Mohabbatein is riding higher in the TRP list. After several major plot twists, the show is currently at number 4.

Kundali Bhagya was pushed to the second slot in the list of the most watched TV shows because of Ekta Kapoor’s Naagin 3 which started airing in June. Apart from that one slight hiccup, Kundali Bhagya enjoys the top spot on the weekly TRP charts, without fail! In the last six months, the story of Preeta (Shraddha Arya) and Karan Luthra (Dheeraj Dhoopar), has kept India hooked.

(5) Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chasmah

Featuring Disha Vakani and Dilip Joshi in main roles, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chasmah is one of the longest running shows on Indian television. The show slipped a little when Disha went away on her maternity leave, but it remained in the list of the top ten most watched shows.

(6) Ishq Subhan Allah

Ishq Subhan Allah was launched in March, and while it is only 68-episode old (at the time of writing this), the show has climbed the popularity charts in no time. The story of Zara, played by Eisha Singh and Kabeer, played by Adnan Khan, and their conflicting views about religion is what drives the serial. While the makers are now turning to some major plot twists to keep people hooked (the lead pair may be heading for a divorce), their chemistry is what keeps everyone coming back for more.
